Memorial Service for Inger M. (Eie) Phillips

    Inger M. Phillips, age 98, a resident at Vernon manor, Viroqua, died Saturday, December 26, 2009 at the Manor. She was born on July 4, 1911 in Westby to Ben J. and Sofie (Mathisen) Eie. She graduated from Westby High School with the class of 1929 and then attended Vernon County Normal School for Teaching. Inger then taught in area country schools.  On December 24, 1933 she married Theron Phillips at the Church of Christ Parsonage. The couple then farmed on Salem Ridge from 1935 to 1958 and then moved to Viroqua in 1977. Inger also worked at Vernon Memorial Hospital as a Nurses Aid for 23 years.

     Inger is survived by her son: Blaine Phillips, La Farge; three daughters: Barbara Larson, Westby, Marlene (James) Adler, AZ, Sara Jane (Evan) Parker, Janesville; many grandchildren, great grandchildren and one great great granddaughter. She was preceded in death by her parents; husband: Theron Phillips on October 1, 1982; brother: Andrew Eie; half brother: Harold Nelson and a son-in-law: Richard Larson.

     A memorial service will be held at 12 p.m. (NOON) on Saturday, January 16, 2010 at the LaFarge Free Methodist Church. Officiating at the service will be Pastor Mark Phillips with burial in the Coon Prairie Cemetery, Westby. The family will greet relatives and friend on Saturday, January 16, 2010 at the LaFarge Free Methodist Church from 11 a.m. until the time of service at 12 p.m. (NOON).

     Memorials may be made to the LaFarge Free Methodist Church in Inger’s name.
