Funeral Arrangements For Mary Strait

Mary O. Strait, age 92 of La Farge, died on Sunday, March 18, 2012 at Vernon Manor. She was born December 31, 1919 the daughter of Omer and Nellie Clark. Following her graduation from High School, she worked in Chicago for approximately one year before she married Robert Strait. They raised their three sons and farmed together side by side. There is no doubt that Mary was a diligent worker in the house and on the farm. Somehow she was able to create an excellent meal from what she considered no food in the house—she loved to cook for people. She was, however, her own worst food critic, something the family disputes—especially in regard to her butterscotch and apple pies. She enjoyed vegetable and flower gardening and looked forward to her Friday hair appointment with Joyce. Mary was a lifelong, devout member of the Dell United Methodist Church.

14 great grandchildren: Jenna Strait, Katelyn Strait, Benjamin Tunks, Nathan Tunks, Robbie Strait, Cori Strait, Abbi Strait, Darien Strait, Temprance Strait, David Waddell, Kaidren Williams, Hudson Williams, Melissa (Adam) Runice and Dustin Strait

one great great grandson, Atley Strait

three sisters: Violet Jorgenson of Cashton Mae (Ed) Fronk of La Farge

Donna Smith of La Farge

one sister in law: Mava Clark

nieces and nephews and other relatives and friends.

Mary was preceded in death by her husband Robert in 1985, her son Philip in 2009, her great granddaughter Ashley Strait in 2008, and her daughter in law Janeen Strait in 2011. Her siblings preceding her in death are: Berlie (Ara) Clark, Leland (Esther) Clark, Dale Clark, Vernie (Dorothy) Clark, Zenneth (Lawrence) Widner, Thella (Dale) Wolfe, Phyllis (Henry) Appleman; and brothers in law: Hollis Jorgenson and Carl Smith.

Funeral services will be held at 2:00 PM on Thursday, March 22, 2012 at the LA FARGE FREE METHODIST CHURCH. Pastor Mark Phillips and Bonita Dorschied will officiate and burial will be in the Dell Cemetery. Friends may call at the LA FARGE FREE METHODIST CHURCH on Wednesday, March 21, from 5:00 PM until 8:00 PM or on Thursday from 1:00 PM until service time. The Seland Huston Funeral Home is assisting the family with arrangements
